Former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, has been transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on emergency for treatment.

Media Official of IGMH informed One Online that President Yameen had been transferred to IGMH by around 6:30 pm today.

The Media Official informed that President Yameen had been brought to the cardiology department at IGMH under advisement from the doctor consulting at prison. It was reported that President Yameen is now being kept under 24 hour observation at IGMH.

Maldives Correctional Services had informed President Yameen’s family and lawyers prior to the transfer.  

Media Official of the Maldives Correctional Services Ahmed Luqman informed One Online that President Yameen has been transferred to IGMH to be consulted by a cardiologist under President Yameen’s request.

While the former President currently under detention had been brought to IGMH on 20 February, he had been released on that occasion after 24 hour observation as well.
