Minister of Tourism and the acting Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ali Waheed, has said that a number of black bags related to the MMPRC Corruption Scandal were taken out of the Foot Association of Maldives (FAM).

Minister Waheed made the statement at a press conference today addressing the public concerns regarding the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment. And so the Minister said that there is no problems between the government and any people involved in football however there are tensions between the clubs and the FAM. He said that the government has not influenced any football related entity and denied the allegations being made by the FAM against the government.

Waheed said that a meeting is going to take place with the FIFA’s FC Team to relay the current state of Maldivian football. During which the greatest scandal in Maldivian football; where black bags related to the MMPRC Corruption Scandal were taken out of the FAM, will be shared. The Acting Sports Minister said that in no country has an office of a political party inside the football association.

Minister Waheed said that the clubs have an issue with the FAM after the association “crossed some lines”. He said that sports and economy should not be tainted with politics and called to end politicizing sports.
