Bank of Maldives (BML) has unveiled new jersey set of the Maldives National Football Team.

A tweet posted today by the bank today, revealed that the new jerseys will make an appearance during the first match at the ongoing Women’s SAFF Championship matches taking place in Nepal.

BML had carried out an open competition in an effort to seek out the new design of the jerseys. The bank has reported that the final design was chosen out of 100 design ideas. The winner of the design competition is the jersey set proposed by product designer, Shaazif Adam.

In an interview given to BML, Shaazif said that the inspiration behind the red jersey is Red Snappers.

He said that this came from the sports commentary that announced the approach of red snappers on the field. He said that the fish scales of red snappers are apparent in the design if this jersey.

The product designer further delved into the blue jersey and he said that the inspiration was drawn from the massive ocean that surrounds Maldives. He noted that the jersey depicts the waves of the ocean in its design.

BML is the official sponsors of the Maldives National Football team since 2017.

The Maldives National Women’s Football Team will be going out against India in today’s match.
