140,900 people cast their vote, 46% remains

According to the latest statistics by the Elections Commission, a total of 140,900 people had voted out of an eligible 264,442 eligible voters.

With this, the voter turnout for this election has risen up to 53.28% meaning 46.72% of eligible voters are yet to vote.

The last box to begin casting vote was the ballot box in UK. Voting in UK began at 1:30pm Maldives time.

While voting arrangements have been smooth, Transparency Maldives have said that their observers will be closely monitoring the 1% of the polling station where the secrecy of the ballot may be compromised due to the layout of the polling station.

Voting for the election closes at 4:00pm in the Maldives.
