Ministry of Foreign Affairs have revealed that no Maldivians were reported as being injured during the earthquake that hit Philippines on Monday.

In a tweet sent out by the Ministry, it was confirmed that no Maldivian was hurt. The Ministry added that they were closely monitoring the situation of all Maldivians who are currently residing in Philippines.

Speaking to “One Online”, a Maldivian student who resides near the Metro Manila area said that all students were safe, and that the area suffered minimal damages. A number of MBBS and dental students reside near the area.

The Ministry had appealed anyone in need of assistance to contact the honorary consul at 006328261883 or 7983400.

Reports coming out from South East Asia have confirmed that at least five people have died during the earthquake. However the number of injured was unavailable during the time of press.
