Ministry of Foreign Affairs have asked all Maldivians living in Sri Lanka to obtain a resident visa.

Through a tweet on Tuesday night, the Ministry said that due to current domestic security situation in Sri Lanka, all nationalities including Maldivians will require to obtain resident visa prior to arrival, effective 15 May.

There is no change for on arrival tourist visa for Maldivians visiting Sri Lanka.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid who departed to Sri Lanka today added that discussions regarding this would be held with senior officials of Lanka, including the Prime Minister.

Minister Shahid traveled to Lanka on an official trip.
