Elections Commission of the Maldives has revealed that they have requested the Ministry of Finance and Treasury to release funds for three political parties from the allocated state budget.

Speaking to One Online, EC Member Ahmed Akram revealed that four parties are to receive funding through the state budget. As such, Akram noted that they have requested the Ministry to release fundings for MDP, MDA and JP.

PPM is the fourth party who are to receive funding through the state budget, however since their yearly report required revisions, the request for their funding has been delayed.

Akram added that upon submission of the revised report, PPM will receive their funding as well.
