A woman who attempted to smuggle drugs into Kaafu atoll Maafushi.

Maldives Police Service said that as part of their anti-drug campaign, the woman who attempted to smuggle drugs was arrested on Thursday.

In a police operation following information to Police Intelligence about drugs being smuggled on a family visit to prison, police arrested a 34-year-old woman.

Police said that when the woman was searched outside the prison with a court order to find the drugs in plastic packet.

The woman was taken to the Maafushi Magistrate Court and was remanded by 15 days to a place designated by the Home Ministry.

Maafushi Police Station is investigating further.
