Former Home Minister Umaru Naseer has said that extremist people are in every faith and in every country and it has not been a threat in the Maldives due to the good advice by the religious scholars.

While the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel has said that the spread of extremism in Europe is a major concern, the former Maldivian Home Minister stated in a Facebook post that if extremism is being spread in Europe due to the education system, the curriculum needs to be changed quickly.

Praising the religious scholars, Umar said that extremism has not been a threat in Maldives because of the good work from the scholars in the country and they continue to guide the people on the true Islamic faith.
