Maldives Meteorological Office has revealed that the current rain in Maldives was due to the 'Hulhangu' monsoon, and has forecasted rain showers for the coming week as well.

An official of the MET Office has confirmed to One Online that the 'Hulhangu' monsoon has begun and that the coming week will bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to different areas of the island nation.

A nation-wide White Weather Alert was issued with a forecast of heavy rain today as well.

The capital, Male’ City has been experiencing heavy rain since this morning.
