Ahmed Mahloof, who previously served as the Youth Minister in the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) government, has been appointed as the Maldivian Ambassador to Japan.

The President's Office announced today that Mahloof was formally appointed as the Ambassador to Japan this morning, during a ceremony held at the President's Office. At this event, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented Mahloof with his letter of credence.

President Muizzu submitted Mahloof's nomination for this position to the People's Majlis last Wednesday, and the Majlis subsequently granted its approval yesterday.

Prior to his appointment as Youth Minister in the MDP government, Mahloof held the position of a Member of Parliament representing the Galolhu South constituency in the People's Majlis.

He embarked on his political career as a member of the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), founded by former President Maumoon during his administration, and was first elected to the 17th People's Majlis.

Subsequently, he was elected to the 18th Majlis as a representative of the MDP.

Following the conclusion of the MDP government, Mahloof departed from the party and officially joined the current ruling party, the People's National Congress (PNC), at a significant event hosted by the party on the 17th of this month.
