Two people have been arrested in Malé after police seized more than one kilogram of suspected drugs and a large amount of cash.
Police said the suspects were arrested on suspicion of possessing, transporting and trafficking narcotics.
The individuals arrested were identified as 58-year-old Mohamed Umair, Malé, and 38-year-old Maasha Ibrahim, L. Dhanbidhoo.
The arrests were made during an operation conducted on 23 June by the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence under a court order.
Police said officers searched an apartment in Malé following the arrests and recovered more than one kilogram of suspected drugs along with a substantial amount of money.
The case is under investigation.
