The police have launched an investigation into a case where children at the Residential Treatment Center in HA. Hoarafushi abducted and assaulted a person.

Police stated today that they are investigating matters concerning three children at the temporary Residential Treatment Center in Hoarafushi, in connection with an incident reported to have occurred last night.

Police said the children are accused of leaving the center and physically assaulting a resident of the island.

Police said they are working in coordination with relevant state institutions to determine how the incident occurred.

A video circulating on social media in connection with this shows a person being taken out of a house, placed in an ambulance, and receiving treatment at the hospital.

No further information regarding the matter has been obtained from either the Ministry of Gender or the Hoarafushi Council.
