President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Fathimath Ameeza as Commissioner General of Taxation at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), following approval by the People's Majlis.
Ameeza was appointed on Thursday after Parliament endorsed her nomination on Wednesday.
The President had nominated two candidates for the post: Mohamed Haleem Abdulla and Fathimath Ameeza.
Ameeza holds a master's degree in accounting from Monash University, Australia, and has served at MIRA for more than 16 years. She previously held the position of Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation.
The Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs recommended her appointment after evaluating both candidates, awarding her a score of 92.44 per cent following the interview process.
