Statistics from the Ministry of Finance show that MVR 3.2 billion has been spent on Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) projects so far this year.
According to the Weekly Fiscal Development Report published by the Ministry of Finance, total expenditure on PSIP projects is estimated at MVR 8.3 billion this year. While MVR 3.2 billion was spent on these projects as of July 16 this year, this figure stood at MVR 3.8 billion during the same period last year.
So far this year, the highest expenditure was incurred in the economic sector. In this regard, MVR 1.3 billion was spent on the sector, of which MVR 997.6 million was spent on establishing transport facilities.
Additionally, MVR 576.9 million was spent on the general public services sector. A large portion of the expenditure in this sector is accounted for by the management of state-owned land. A total of MVR 571.8 million was spent on this component alone.
While MVR 480 million was spent on the housing sector, this is a significant increase of 123 percent compared to the same period last year. The highest expenditure in this sector was incurred on government housing projects.
While MVR 206.1 million was spent on the health sector, MVR 73.2 million was spent on this sector during the same period last year.
