Three individuals have been arrested on suspicion of smuggling over a kilogram of narcotics into the Maldives by air.

Police stated that those arrested in connection with the case are Jamaican national Andrew Lloyd Corbin (53), Ibrahim Athoof (20) of Noright, N. Lhohi, and another Maldivian.

Among them, Andrew Lloyd Corbin was arrested on the 19th of this month following information provided to the police by the Maldives Customs Service that he was carrying drugs hidden inside his body upon arriving in the Maldives by air.

Ibrahim Athoof and the other individual were arrested in Hulhumalé on the 20th of this month during a joint operation by Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence, suspected of conspiring with Andrew Lloyd Corbin to import, sell, and traffic drugs in the Maldives.

When the three individuals arrested in connection with this case were produced before the court to determine their remand, the court ordered Andrew Lloyd Corbin and Ibrahim Athoof to be remanded in custody for 15 days, while the other person was released under conditions.
