A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI) and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to strengthen cooperation in coral reef restoration and monitoring.

HDC stated that during a ceremony held yesterday, State Minister Dr. Amzath Ahmed signed on behalf of MMRI, while the company's Managing Director, Brigadier General (Retired) Ali Zuhair, signed on behalf of HDC.

The main objective of this agreement is to provide technical guidance, expertise, and support required for coral restoration projects carried out by HDC. Additionally, the agreement includes HDC's cooperation in monitoring the Maldives' reefs and strengthening scientific research conducted in the field.

HDC noted that this MoU is an important step towards further strengthening efforts to restore the Maldives' coral ecosystems and manage them sustainably.
