More than 3,100 trees have been planted along the newly redeveloped section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu as part of efforts to create a greener and more attractive public space.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) said the tree-planting campaign was carried out under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's national programme to plant five million trees.

The initiative was inaugurated by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib and attended by senior government officials, including ministers, officials from the President's Office, and representatives of Bank of Maldives, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and MTCC.

MTCC said the latest campaign follows an earlier tree-planting effort from the North Harbour area to the Local Market. With the latest phase completed, more than 3,100 trees have now been planted from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to North Harbour.

The landscaping includes native Maldivian trees, coastal vegetation and ornamental plants to enhance the environment and improve the area's appearance.

The redeveloped section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu is scheduled to open to the public at 4:00 p.m. today.
