A speedboat ran aground while departing the southern harbour of Malé this evening due to swell surges.

Reports note that the vessel was carrying a number of children at the time of the incident. No injuries to passengers or crew have been reported so far.

The incident occurred as the launch was attempting to leave the southern harbour.
