"Coast Guard Ship Imaduddin," donated to the Maldivian military under grant assistance from the Australian government, has been officially commissioned and brought into service.

The vessel was commissioned by President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held tonight at Hulhumalé MPL Port. The ceremony was attended by the Australian High Commissioner to the Maldives, David Jessup, and Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy.

The vessel was donated following a request made to the Australian government by President Muizzu as part of his policy to enhance MNDF capabilities.

To mark the commissioning of CGS Imaduddin into service, the Maldivian national flag and MNDF flag were hoisted on the vessel along with the commissioning pennant. Prior to the vessel's arrival in the Maldives, Coast Guard crew members completed comprehensive operational training in Australia.

MNDF stated that the vessel will significantly enhance the monitoring of Maldivian waters, the prevention of illegal maritime activities, and search and rescue operations.
