An individual has been arrested for attempting to bring drugs into a government institution in N. Atoll on Independence Day.

Police stated that Zaid Mohamed (36) of Funvilu, Lh. Naifaru, was arrested in connection with the case.

He was arrested last Sunday during a joint operation conducted by Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Manadhoo Police. Upon his arrest and search, 20 rubber packets containing suspected narcotics were found. Police added that the preliminary weight of the items was 7.2 grams.

When Zaid was produced before the court to determine his remand in connection with the case, the court ordered him to be remanded in custody for five days.

Police are continuing to investigate the case.
