MNDF has stated that despite searching a vast area by sea and air, two foreigners missing from the landing craft that capsized near K. Gaafaru have still not been found.

The landing craft "Hawks Voyager," which departed from Thilafushi, took on water and sank near Gaafaru on Friday morning.

According to MNDF, a total of ten people were aboard the vessel at the time of the incident. This included two Maldivians and eight foreigners.

MNDF stated that those rescued in the incident were taken to Gaafaru on the same day, and despite suffering minor injuries, their condition is good.

In a post on X last night, MNDF stated that in the joint operation conducted by the Coast Guard and Air Corps to locate the two missing foreigners, an area of 2,747 square nautical miles has been searched by sea and air so far.

"While Coast Guard Ship Imaduddin and Fast Interceptor Craft are active at sea in this effort, the two missing foreigners have not yet been found based on efforts conducted so far," MNDF said.

MNDF has also searched the area where the landing craft sank using divers.
