The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that the number of measles cases has declined.
According to statistics shared by HPA, 13 new measles cases were recorded last week, bringing the total number of reported cases so far this year to 199.
While case numbers have decreased, the number of people receiving the measles vaccine continues to rise. As part of HPA's efforts to control the spread of the disease through vaccination, 12,971 people have been vaccinated as of last week.
HPA has arranged for individuals who have been in contact with an infected person to receive the vaccine by visiting Hulhumalé Hospital or the Urban Primary Health Care Center.
In addition to hospitals in Malé, vaccination services are also available at designated times from hospitals and health centers across the atolls.
HPA urges anyone experiencing fever and a red rash to seek medical attention at a hospital without delay. The agency also requests individuals to wear a mask when going to the hospital and to avoid crowded places if displaying symptoms.
HPA further advises individuals being tested for suspected measles to remain isolated until their test results are available.
