Demolition of the Malé Prison site adjacent to Dharumavantha School to make way for a modern school hall will be completed in the final quarter of this year, Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu has announced.

Speaking to state media PSM, Minister Shafeeu stated that physical work to vacate and clear the site is underway alongside contractor arrangements. The government plans to construct one of the most modern, multipurpose school halls in the capital on the vacated land, fully equipped to host diverse student activities and events.

Acknowledging parental concerns regarding the absence of a school hall when the new Dharumavantha School building was constructed under the previous administration, the Minister assured that the current government is delivering a permanent solution. Dharumavantha School officially commenced classes in its new facility on August 6, 2023.
