A procession was held in Malé today to commemorate Police Service Day.

The walk was joined by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed, senior leadership across various police commands, and general service personnel.

Police noted that the march was organized as a "Unity Walk."

Speaking on a Public Service Media (PSM) program, Police Spokesperson Superintendent of Police Arif stated: "Internally, this institution relies heavily on unity and cross-departmental collaboration. Similarly, we must work closely in partnership with other state institutions, and even more crucially, maintain strong connections and work hand-in-hand with the general public."

Arif added that today’s procession showcased various police service uniforms.

"The general working uniform is the standard blue attire routinely worn by police. The operational uniform is dark blue, while other operational roles utilize camouflage uniforms. These variations also reflect the degree to which the police service has expanded since its establishment," he said.

The walk commenced at Republic Square (Jumhooree Maidhaan) and circled around Malé.

As part of the Police Service Day commemorations in Malé, a children's evening is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM today in the Social Centre area. Tonight from 8:30 PM to 11:00 PM, a "Blues Family Night" will be held exclusively for police officers and their families.

The official formal ceremony marking Police Service Day is slated to take place tomorrow.

The Maldives Police Service was established as a separate civilian institution on September 1, 2004.
