Maldives Immigration has said that tourists need a negative pre-entry PCR test result issued not more than 72 hours prior to departure to Maldives, effective tomorrow.
The Tourism Ministry had previously said that the decision was based on the safety of everyone. They added that the decision was made after discussions with the HPA as well.
In a press release, Immigration also noted that the following travelers are exempt from pre-arrival PCR test requirements; Citizens of Maldives, Valid Employment Approval or Work Visa holders, Holders of any other resident permit of Maldives, Flight crew arriving on General Declaration, and Infants aged less than 1 year.
Tourism Minister Dr. Mausoom Abdulla had previously said that by enforcing this decision, they will be able to ensure that the Maldives is an even safer country for tourists.
The negative PCR result has to be submitted to Maldives Immigration via IMUGA (imuga.immigration.gov.mv), while filling the Traveler Health Declaration.
