MP for Feydhoo constituency, Mohamed Nihad has said that the resorts today are not jails for its employees.

He made the remark in response to the criticism after the amendment to the Employment Act to grant every employee the right to go back to their home island after work hours, thus fulfilling the MDP campaign promise to make sure resort employees can go back to their islands after their shifts.

Nihad said that there are numerous resorts with staff that are from the surrounding islands that are five minutes away but they are not allowed to return home after their shifts and have to remain in the staff area.

However, with the new amendment, MP Nihad said that resort employees can go back to their families after their shifts.
