India to make an offer for installing a Controlled Surveillance Radar system (CSR) in Maldives under the defense cooperation dialogue.
The newspaper “Times of India” reported that India will be negotiating the terms of this offer at the upcoming official visit to by the Minister of Defence Uz. Mariya Ahmed Didi.
The MInister for Defense has already departed on the trip to New Delhi today.
According to “Times of India”, India had already offered to install the radar system in Maldives previously during the administration of President Abdulla Yameen in 2016. President Yameen had however refused the offer at that time.
Maldives is currently one of the nations without an installation of the radar system. Older models of the system are reportedly already installed in Seychelles, Mauritius and Sri Lanka.
“Times of India” reported that it is highly likely that Maldives will sign the deal this time around.
The newspaper reported that talks will proceed among both nations as part of the defense cooperation dialogue in an effort to strengthen ties.
