A silent protest is under way by Civil Servants by wearing black to bring the salary issues to the attention of the government.

Organized by the Civil Servant Association, the protest aims to bring the salary issues of all Civil Servants nationwide.

While Civil Servants around the country are taking party in this silent protest expressing their opinions, the Civil Servant Association said that if the government does not try to address it, they have decided not to show up for work starting tomorrow.

Civil Servants are demanding that they receive a Living Allowance similar to how the employees in political positions received it. They are also calling to set the minimum wage and increase the salaries based on certificate levels.

The demands also include raising salaries of the lower-level employees and give extra benefits to the clerical staff at the schools.

As Civil Servants protest in silence today, last week saw the employees of IGMH send a petition to the President with over 500 signatures raising the issue of the salary and not giving promotions.
