Saudi Arabia emerged victorious in the men’s handball event at the 3rd Asian Youth Games, defeating the Maldives 17–7 in a Group A match held today at the Um Al Hassam Complex in Bahrain.
Saudi Arabia, considered one of the strongest teams in this year’s tournament, led the first half with a score of 35–3. The goals for the Maldives in the first half were scored by Ibrahim Arush, Ahmed Lahufan, and Yousuf Maeesh Musthafa.
In the second half, the Maldives added four more goals, scored by Mohamed Aflah Hussain Shifaz, Younus Wazin, Mohamed Wisham, Ayal Majeed, and Iyan Ahmed.
Despite the loss, the Maldivian team showed strong teamwork and maintained high spirits throughout the game.
The Maldives is the only South Asian country participating in the men’s handball event at the Asian Youth Games, which are being held in Bahrain. Group A includes Bahrain, Jordan, and Hong Kong.
