The Government plans to launch a national initiative to build an inclusive society under the proposed MVR 59.7 billion State Budget for 2027, Finance Minister Hassan Zareer has said.

Presenting the budget to Parliament, the Minister said promoting social development and upholding Islamic moral values remain key Government priorities.

He said the initiative aims to empower vulnerable communities and ensure equal opportunities for all citizens, with a focus on improving access to roads, schools and health centres for persons with disabilities.

The initiative will also create employment opportunities for persons with disabilities through Government institutions and State-owned enterprises, supporting their social participation and economic independence.

The Minister added that a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) budget framework will be introduced next year to strengthen gender equality in policymaking and monitor related expenditure.
