Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed's no-confidence motion has been placed on the agenda for tomorrow's sitting of the People's Majlis.

The no-confidence motion against Minister Saeed was submitted to the Majlis with the signatures of 13 members from the opposition MDP.

In the resolution submitted by those members to the Majlis on the first of August last year, it was stated that Saeed had been negligent in fulfilling his responsibilities outlined in the Constitution.

The resolution also stated that he had been negligent in fulfilling his obligation to answer to the Majlis and had engaged in actions prohibited for ministers.

Consequently, the resolution proposed declaring that confidence in Saeed has been lost and called for his removal from office.

The General Committee of the Majlis has decided that the debate on the resolution will proceed in the Majlis for one hour.

While the debate on this matter takes place on the Majlis floor, the General Committee has also determined that the minister will be given a one-hour window on the Majlis floor to respond to remarks directed at him by members.

Under the procedures currently practiced in the Majlis, time allocated for debating a bill or motion is distributed among political parties represented in the Majlis based on their number of members, alongside a specific allocation of time for independent members.
