Malaysia has axed the pre-departure and upon arrival Covid-19 test requirement for certain categories of travellers starting today.
In a statement made by the Minister of Health, Khairy Jamaluddin on Sunday, he stated that fully vaccinated travellers aged 18 and above, and those aged 17 and below - regardless of vaccination status - will no longer be required to do Covid-19 test to travel to Malaysia.
This also applies to travellers who have recovered from Covid-19 6-60 days before their departure date, irrespective of vaccination status, Khairy said.
“Travellers aged 18 and above who have yet to complete their vaccination, are required to undergo a pre-departure test two days prior, using professional RT-PCR or RTK-Ag,” the statement read.
Additionally, travellers in this category will be required to take a RK-Antigen test under the supervision of a private medical practitioner registered with Malaysian Medical Council either physically or virtually, within 24 hours of arrival. Travellers testing positive will be required to undergo mandatory quarantine for 5 days and take a RT-PCR test on the fourth day, or an RTK-Antigen test on the fifth day.
All travellers are required to display their 'traveller's card' in the MySejahtera app upon arrival into Malaysia.
